Building a twin

On 29th May a team of six from Martock Christian Fellowship travelled to Chervona Sloboda (Red Village) in order to spend a week helping the local Baptist Church with its ongoing building project.

  First glimpse of church
The plan was to lay the footings and build the walls that would section off the front part of the building into a number of separate rooms ~ a task that involved moving very many bricks and mixing of cement, as well as the actual brick-laying.
Before the team left for Ukraine, the church was able to send over the money needed to buy the necessary bricks ~ and, thanks to the further generosity of its members, a new cement mixer was also purchased once the team arrived in Chervona Sloboda. Working alongside a team of local believers they were eventually able to build, not only the downstairs interior walls, but also most of the upstairs ones as well.

  Mission is moving work
The team, (which included M.C.F.'s pastor), also took part in church services in the villages of Hutory and Nechaivka, as well as in Chervona Sloboda itself. At the end of the week each of the six came home with wonderful memories of the rich fellowship, God's blessing on the building work, and the inspirational faith of pastor Anatoly Bubokh and his family. A number of the team members may well return next year, in order further help the church with this tremendous project ~ and they, like the believers in Chervona Sloboda, look forward to the day when the building is finally ready for use.

Old preachers never die

On the 5th July Vic Jackopson went to the village of Makiyivka to present Alexander Vyshemirskyy, father of Misha, Hope Now's Ukrainian director, with an award. This was in special recognition of the contribution he has made to the preaching of the gospel for over 62 years.

Recently, our church buried Olga. She was only 17 but she died of cancer. When I heard about it I thought, God has left me on the Earth because He still wants me to do something for Him.
