Dentistry
In 1994 Hope Now delivered a dental unit to Prison 62 in Cherkassy, little realising that this would be the embryo, which would grow into the celebrated NGO Dentaid. Hope Now in partnership with Dentaid seeks to provide dental units, oral hygiene and dental expertise to the beleaguered, underfunded Ukrainian dental service.
Maxillo Facial Care (Cleft lip and palate) In 1995 Hope Now entered into a programme of care for children born with cleft lip and palate. Even today, orphans can be found who have received little or no treatment even into their teens. Hope Now has treated many such orphans either in Ukraine or in the U.K. 5 of these chilren have been adopted overseas to Canada, America, New Zealand and Switzerland. Hope Now has also provided two hospitals with Maxillo Facial equipment.
Medical Equipment and supplies
From 1995 till 2005 Hope Now delivered much needed equipment and supplies to several hospitals, but now it has deliberately moved away from the practice of trucking humanitarian aid, because it supports the local economy by purchasing in Ukraine.
Paediatric Training From 1997 until 2004 Dr. Peter Johnston developed a working relationship with the Cherkassy Maternity Hospital and local Paediatricians for the mutual sharing of information about clinical practice and techniques.
Family PlanningSouthampton G.P. and "Partner in Hope", Dr. Jennifer Bute, has lectured on the subject of birth control and has been invited to give leadership in the development of family planning clinics. Training

The subjects covered include Child abuse and Protection, Asthma, Resuscitation, the management of the seriously ill child, and the surgical management of cleft lip and palate. We established a link between Dorchester Hospital Paediatric Department and the Cherkassy Paediatricians which is now an independent Charity providing material and training support for the Paediatric medical, nursing and therapy services, including Internet access to modern medical information. Hope Now has translated a textbook of neonatal care and provided translations to all Paediatric and Maternity hospitals in the Cherkassy Region.
Mobile Medical/Dental Unit.
In cooperation with Dentaid, which is a charity started by Hope Now but now entirely independent, a mobile medical/dental unit was delivered to Dr Alexander Doreshenko, in Kirovograd. This is now used to provide primary care in the villages of that oblast.
