A note from Heather

Heather (L) and Hope Now staff ten years ago
Thank you for all your prayers and messages of encouragement over the last few months.

Here is a brief update, for those who don't know -
I started to get headaches and dizziness early on last year, as well as numbness in my mouth, lip and chin. I had various scans followed by a Lumbar Puncture, which were all inconclusive. The day after the Lumbar Puncture I was very dizzy and sick and was admitted to hospital for two weeks. The doctors decided there could be disease in the lining of the brain, so I had five doses of radiotherapy treatment over five consecutive days.

My medication now includes steroids, which weaken the muscles, and soon after coming out of hospital I was unable to walk very far, and I was unable to climb stairs. I was therefore bedridden from June until September, which was when we were able to get a stair lift fitted.

John's employers (Twinings) allowed him to take four months sick leave to look after me. Our daughter, Heidi, gave up her job and is now my official carer. I am now registered disabled. (For those of you who know Heidi, you will be pleased to know that she is now engaged to Chris!)

I still get some dizziness and have had several falls. Please pray for complete healing and especially for restoration of the muscles so that I can walk and have a better quality of life.

God bless

Heather

Dear Hope Now.
Thank you very much for hosting the summer programme in Kompas Park.  Your generosity enabled us to organise many summer activities for 75 orphans, in a continuation of your No Child Left Behind Programme, now called Fresh Start for Children.

You made a difference

Thank you Hope Now for the work you have done in the prisons. The Word that you sowed, in due time sprouted also in me. You made a difference!
