We started to hold “KG” two years ago. “Kids Games” is a project that helps us to work at schools and to build relations with the children. But what we are doing after the project is much more important. We don’t leave these children for next year but continue to study the Bible during the year using different methods.
We have already had many friends from different places of Cherkassy region with whom we continue to study the Bible after the project and eleven of them have already repented and come to the Lord.
Shpola and Sobolivka “Kids Games” have acquainted us with 110 children so far.
Children from different forms (classes) joined together in one team. Interesting games united children and the events they enjoyed together during the Kids Games made them friends.
The first thing that we can see coming into any school is that the children are often angry and call one another with brutal words, one of our aims is to unite the children, and to teach them to support those who are weaker.
After such projects I often hear the phrase: you`ve changed my life. But we know that it is only God`s Word that can do it.
The leaders who accompany me to these projects are mainly teenagers aged from 14 to 21 years old, and during the project they too learn more about God and how to serve Him.
Story #1
Rusik (17 years old) came with us for the first time, he understands that he needs to go to church every Sunday, because his parents do so, but what it means to serve God and to study the Bible he has never practiced. When I found this out I proposed him to be a leader of the team (the responsibilities of a leader are: to study the Bible, to teach it to children, to be a good example to children and to continue to study the Bible with them) Rusik agreed.
One evening when our team gathered together for planning in Shpola church I suggested everyone share his favourite verse from the Bible. Everyone with such clever view (faces) quoted different verses from Bible, but when it was Rusik`s turn he made us laugh… he quoted a very familiar verse to each of us – a key verse of Shpola Kids Games. The verse he had to study as a leader:
BUT THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT THE SON OF MAN HAS POWER UPON THE EARTH TO FORGIVE SINS (Luke 5:24). But who knows may be this verse will change Rusik`s life forever.
After the Shpola project Rusik agreed to study Bible as he wants to continue to serve God as a leader of a team.
Story #2
When we came to Shpola we saw a big problem: the lack of leaders. We hoped that some leaders for Shpola project would come from Korsun church, but they refused. We hoped that some leaders will come from Vatutino church, but at that district spring holidays were postponed and they couldn’t come.
Leonid is a good Christian from Shpola. For a long time we worked together in Shpola internat. And this time he would like to serve God, but he had to work.
When he saw the problem (only 6 leaders for 80 children) he decided to ask his employer for leave. Leonid phoned him, but the employer with very brutal words said that if Leonid did not come in at 8.00 he may not come at all. Hearing this Leonid said: “Then you may not wait for me again”.
Next day at 8.00 he was at School #2 where we started Kids Games. And at the end of the Olympic “Kids Games” his team called “Champions” received the first prize.
Now, a week after the project, he has found a new job and says that he does not regret (even slightly) his participation in the Olympics.
