Every family that participated had either adopted or fostered children. There were 6 families competing for the top three places, and it soon became quite obvious who was the head, whom the children obeyed and whose authority was respected.
One family came without a father, two families came without a father or mother, just the children. And three families came in full number, that is with fathers and mothers, those were the families of Tarasenko, of Gusak and the family of Pilipenko.
The authority of the father and love of children was quite obvious. They listened to the orders of one person, accurately did what they heard, and took good places. Then there was the family of Anatolii Perepelitsa, the Pastor who works in Prison 62. There came just his foster children with Valerii Grubyi to lead. The team showed brilliant results and they took the first place. The family of Raya Kusyumova was also a wonderful family. The children that live in the family carefully listened to mum’s orders, but two participants Ivan and Pavel (they live at Cornah House) decided to show off themselves at the experimental games, not caring about team building and so took the third place.
One could see very clearly who was a family and who was not. I was sorry for the children of Swindon House and Cornah House. They are not a family as we know it, but praise God those children do have a Heavenly Father.
Their team was called “Green”, they came without parents and the older brother was not able to lead the team. Half of them were Christians and half were not. All was confusing and complicated with them, but with the support of the other teams and a loyal attitude they took third place and were happy.
For the children and non Christian people there we conducted a puppet show called “Hotel of your heart”. The games were great fun for all of the participants, a good opportunity to rest and to be encouraged. Mothers and children were pleased in a very special way, and Ira Tarasenko said: “We had a good time together and a good lunch together. Otherwise I would spend those 4 hours cooking at the kitchen.”
The participants were: Tarasenkos (7 people), Gusaks (8 people), Perepelitsas (7 people), Pilipenkos (8 people), Kusyumovs (9 people), “Green” team (7 people). 46 people in total, and 24 people came to the event to be trained as future leaders.
