Dear Hope Now. Thank you very much for hosting the summer programme in Kompas Park. Your generosity enabled us to organise many summer activities for 75 orphans, in a continuation of your No Child Left Behind Programme, now called Fresh Start for Children.
The Institute has designed a new special training course that builds on your ideas in healthy approaches and techniques that have proved successful in dealing with special needs children. In the past, we limited our training to one teacher trainer at each of the orphanages. Now we have expanded the training to include every teacher in the orphanages who deal with such students.
The Institute hosted participants from various orphanages to perform their shows on the motto "We are healthy and happy". We were glad to have representatives of Hope Now there to see the progress of these children. To continue and build on the good work already done we need to provide the orphanages with special sports equipment in order to train their bodies and minds to overcome bad habits. We appreciate your wish to donate 2,000 to supply children with these urgent things.
In June 2010, we would like to hold a summer vocational camp at Kompas Park for special needs students. This would last for two weeks. At this camp, students would have an opportunity to meet professionals from various occupations and learn about a range the job opportunities .At present the students' knowledge of jobs is limited to teachers, nurses and cooks because this is all they have seen living in the isolation of institutional life. This camp would broaden the scope of career choices available to them. We have several volunteers who have agreed to participate in the project. In order to implement the programme, we are requesting funding from Hope Now.
We look forward to cooperating with you in the future and hope that you will look favourably upon our request for funding. Sincerely, Tatiana Pakhomova Coordinator of Fresh Start for Children
If you would like to send a child to this camp it will cost 50GBP for each of the two weeks.
Fresh Start, the educational programme set up by Hope Now and the
Cherkassy Teacher Training College, is usually confined to the
orphanages throughout the Cherkassy Region.
At the beginning of February, in response to a communication from the Cherkassy Institute for Education, Vic Jackopson will go to several Cherkassy orphanages to see for himself the progress of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) project.
