Solomon Staggie was a gangster, murderer and reckoned throughout South Africa as public enemy number one. Ten years ago he became a Christian in Pollsmore Prison and received help from Vic Jackopson before being sentenced to 25 years in another prison. He has now been transferred back to Pollsmore, where he is being considered for parole. Supported by Hope Now, he is continuing his theological studies by correspondence course. He writes:
I am overflowing with God's love. Yes, this God has put in my heart for all believers and all people that don't know Jesus as Lord. Also to you, Vic and Sue and readers of Hope Now. You have been obedient to Him. How otherwise could you have opened your hearts to a murderer, a gangster, and a drug peddler? Without your help I could not study.

I thank my God Jesus Christ, who is one person, God Himself that He looked at me the greatest of sinners. He looked at me with Love, so much love and has given His life for me. With my hands, my body, soul and heart, I thank God, holding onto His gift and in faith I stand today a child in my Father's house. I am a part of my Father's Kingdom and I praise Him.
Vic, Sue - thank you for listening to the Holy Spirit. It's so easy to avoid a gentle voice. My dear loved ones, I trust that this letter (written with tears and heartfelt joy) will bring comfort knowing that Jesus Christ our Lord is with you - readers and believers. And we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who loves us.
Remember I do pray for you, Vic, Sue and family, believers, staff of Hope Now. Please do pray for me - utterance may be given to me that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel. Amen.
Do pray for my wife Cheryl Hilda, son Jason and daughter Nadine that they also may be obedient to the Holy Spirit.
Love and prayers. Yours in His service, Solomon Staggie. Phil. 4:19-23
